Meet Trading Twilight, a band that challenges convention and speaks to anybody who may have ever felt like they have fallen in between the cracks. From the music scene in Pittsburgh, PA, Trading Twilight produces emo pop punk which probes the soul of human experience. To lead the charge is Tim Hawk, whose own story provides as much substance as the music itself. From tumultuous beginnings to musical triumphs, Trading Twilight is a movement – a collective cry for understanding and healing.
Breaking From the Past
Trading Twilight’s frontman Tim Hawk hardly ever envisioned music would be his path, but life leads you where you would like to be. Growing up, Tim endured a shattered home life – one that could consume anybody. This environment instilled his passion and resilience. In spite of these hardships, Tim knew of people who felt invisible and excluded – like him. These experiences provided not just fuel for his music but shaped his purpose. Trading Twilight’s music is that of a vulnerable journey overcoming adversity.
The Band’s Unique Sound
Influenced by classic emo pop punk heroes Modern Baseball, the Wonder Years and Jack’s Mannequin, Trading Twilight features a nostalgic but refreshingly original sound. The band formed in 2016 but began life much earlier when Tim and lead guitarist Josh Mihok spent hours conceptualizing what would ultimately turn into Trading Twilight. What was a dream came true as they added brand new members who all brought their very own flair to the mix. There is chemistry between Tim & Josh, pianist and vocalist Libby Kline, drummer Josh White along with bassist Maurice Hardy Jr.
The Journey Behind ‘Hopeful Melancholy’
Hopeful Melancholy is much more than lyrics and notes – it is Tim’s very own personal story. It takes its title from an emotional chapter in his life when a friend in crisis sought his assistance following an overdose. The intensity and vulnerability of this particular moment are expressed in the melody and lyrics of the song which appeal to anybody who can feel abandoned or marginalized. Through these experiences collectively, the band develops songs that can comfort people who might feel they’re walking alone. If you love this song, there is a whole album’ Revitalization of the Human Soul’ which can tell you a linked story of redemption and hope.
Looking Forward With Trading Twilight
Trading Twilight is more than pondering on the past: it is preparing the future. They are preparing for additional appearances and work on their upcoming EP. They haven’t let earlier challenges stall their progress. Rather, they’ve used those experiences to develop their resolve and hon their craft. Their partnership with ZK Productions also has provided them with new studio capabilities and musical horizons. While Tim and the band look into the future, they do so with the experience of past and the desire to reach every person that clicks play.
