Ahead of his eagerly awaited debut album titled Maybe It’s Fine (due May 9th), Irish singer-songwriter Moncrieff shared a new single and music video the other week. The song is called “Shangri-La” and it’s a rapturous anthem filled with carefree energy.
“It’s about two people becoming so recklessly infatuated with each other that in the moment, it feels like they’re on drugs,” Moncrieff says while describing this new track.
He elaborates: “I was seeing this person, and I knew deep down that it was never going to end well but it was just so much fun being with them. They were so charismatic, gorgeous… seriously good craic. I was totally taken in but looking back now there were some serious red flags. The song encapsulates all the best parts of that experience and that person while also wilfully ignoring everything else. That pure, carefree feeling is so enticing. It’s only when you come down that you realise it’s something else!”
The artist has just released a live-on-stage performance video (see below) which shows how the energy translates to the audience.
