Known for their jangly style, US indie rock band Mainland Break have shared another intoxicating single, “I Give In”. The song features an upbeat groove laced with high-pitched electric guitar melodies.
Lyrically, “I Give In” describes the experience of a wave of conflicting emotions and the ultimate surrender.
The band elaborates: “It’s about taking the path of least resistance and losing an internal struggle. The wave crashes over you, but also propels you. You love, but you hold yourself back from loving. Tension builds, but tension fades. You’re emotionally nimble, but emotionally shackled. You feel mobile, but you are stuck.“
Although a lot more thoughtful, this new song is just as euphoric as Mainland Break’s “One Way ticket to Midnight”, the title track of their 2023 debut album.
