Engulf yourself in dreamy nostalgia with this new song by Bora York called “Glow Hover”. It’s a chillwave-influenced synthpop tune with a catchy hook and a generally fun vibe.

The song is taken from an album that the outfit is working on. So, who are Bora York? Well, they are a Minneapolis-based husband-wife duo, Chris and Rebekah Bartels, who have been making music for a decade now, with a break now and then.

In fact, Glow Hover” is only their second single after returning from a 5-year hiatus, their previous release being the Emotion Vertigo album (2019). This new era is marked by an attitude of letting go of pressures and embracing the playfulness of their early days (the outfit was started by Chris while in college).

I think I needed to distance myself from it for a while. I was putting so much emotional stock into Bora York, trying so hard to make it work as my ‘main project,’ and it sort of burned me out. This album is me returning to that accidental magic again—back when it was just a school project, and it all felt exciting and new,” he says about the recent approach to making music.

Effervescing with shimmering synths and light percussion, and filled with lush melodies and beautiful harmonies, “Glow Hover” is totally irresistible, the kind of song that gets better with every repeat listen. I can’t get enough of the chorus.
