With his fourth album, Nobody Like Zaza, Nigerian afrobeats star L.A.X (born Damilola Afolabi) paid close attention to detail, delivering a painstakingly crafted body of work.
From building a cohesive narrative centred around love to unhurriedly picking his list of collaborators, it’s clear that he wanted to create a project that listeners will be coming back to again and again. The focus track “MVP” is an amapiano-influenced tune that arrived paired with vibrant visuals (watch above).
Other songs, such as the album opener “Italawa” and “Eje Mi” (with Bhadboi OML), further display L.A.X’s blend of his own style with his diverse musical influences.
Nobody Like Zaza is a truly enjoyable listen. Stream it via Spotify and don’t forget to keep up with L.A.X on Instagram.
